CDA was founded by a group of development activists and
social workers who had a background in rural
development. In 1986 CDA started its activities
initially taking the rural wage issues of Agri-based
labour, women's
and child rights through a rights-based approach. These
approaches have been upheld by the organisation in its
programs to the current day.
The head office of CDA has its vertical located in
phenomenon Dinajpur, about 450 km away from the capital
city Dhaka. Geographically the working area of it is a
Himalayan piedmont land, but it is sometimes very much
draught prone and flash flood as well as extreme cold
weather which in winter go lower to 4 Degree
Celsius.


CDA is currently working in the 2 districts of Dinajpur
and Thakurgaon. CDA's
program operates in 6 Thanas and 457 villages in which
it has 435 PO's,
1812 groups and 49,955 members. Other project activities
have been extended to 16 Districts in the Northern part
in association with INGOs, partner NGOs and sectoral
Departments of Government.
